Welcome to Our New Website

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, one thing remains perfectly clear: that people all over the world needs salvation and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

At CIM Canada, our goal has always been to share this message cross-culturally. The pandemic has affected our ministries as borders remain closed and many churches in the rural villages of Ghana and Togo, as well as the Roma congregations in Ukraine are not meeting or have severe restrictions as to how they meet. Donations to run ministries and to support church planters and village school teachers have also slowed, making it harder to provide much needed resources to the ministry fields. This, truly, is a time where we need to look to the Lord for guidance and direction as we navigate uncharted waters.

Though physically, we have not been in the field, CIM Canada has taken this time to refresh our website, produce new promo videos (in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin), as well as update our mission, vision, and value statements. We realize in today’s high-tech world that an online presence is important to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In this month’s news update, I would like to introduce you to our new website. Special thanks to our board member, Candace Chu, and administrative assistant, Joanne Yen, who has been working on this project for the last few months. Usually during the summer months, our administrative assistant is busy completing the paper work for all our STM teams, but because of the pandemic, all of our trips were cancelled this year and it gave her time to work on the website.

On first glance, one will see that website is now much more interactive and has a more sleek and modern look. Our introductory promotional videos are now available on the home page and can be viewed in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. For those that are not familiar with our organization, this is a perfect place to start.

There are also links to our history, our name, our partnerships, how people can participate in our ministries, as well as past newsletters. New to the website include monthly updates from Janice Wong, our international worker in Ghana and our Adopt A Pastor and/or village school pages. In the past CIM Canada has relied heavily on churches for the support for church planters and village school teachers. We are now giving the opportunity for anyone to financially support church planters and village school teachers. On our Adopt A Pastor page, one will find pictures along with a brief write up for those who are currently not supported by an overseas church. Church planters in the rural villages struggle each month to support their families. The COVID-19 pandemic has made matters much worse as tithes and offerings have ceased at most churches because they are not meeting. In Ghana and Togo, most church planters must farm just to provide food for their families. In the Roma settlements of Ukraine, a number of pastors leave their country looking for any type of work and only go back to their congregations when they can. We are hoping through the Adopt A Pastor initiative, that people will be called by the Lord to come alongside and support these servants of God.

We also would like to highlight the importance of prayer so there is a link to prayer requests in our ministry fields. In addition, if anyone desires prayer, they can contact us, and we will pray for them confidentially.

Finally, we have updated our mission, vision, and value statements. The essence is the same as it has always been, but our wording has been revised.

Vision

We see the Gospel proclaimed, the flourishing of people and the movement of Christians for the glory of God

Mission

Proclaim. Send. Support.

To unite international and local ministries in proclaiming the Gospel cross-culturally through sending people, supporting ministries, and creating long-lasting partnerships.

Values

Gospel: We value the Gospel of Jesus Christ and believe God meets the needs of both our bodies and souls.

Body of Christ: We value the body of Christ, where no matter our differences in culture, denomination, ethnicity and nationality, we all belong to God's family.

Partnership: We value deep, meaningful and long-lasting relationships with our partners.

Fellowship: We value the diversity of gifts, movement and involvement of the local church as we pursue our vision and mission together.

Empowerment: We value the empowerment of everyone in the body of Christ to follow the Great Commission.

Though the near future is uncertain as cases of COVID-19 continue to grow at a rapid rate worldwide (there have now been over 20 million cases worldwide), we are confident that God is still in control. Our hope and desire is to galvanize supporters through the new website as we await to send teams overseas again.

July Financials

2.png

1. General Fund - for general and administrative purposes, such as staff salaries

2. Designated Fund - for specific ministries in different field locations as designated (cannot be transferred between funds)

*All financial figures are in Canadian dollars and rounded to the nearest dollar*

*Please note that there was an adjustment of $9.07 on the ending balance of the June statement.  Therefore the beginning balance of July 2020 is $35740.11 instead of $35749.18.

Pray with us:

Continue to pray for our ministries in Ghana, Togo, and Ukraine. Since the pandemic began at the beginning of the year, interactions with villagers have been severely limited. Pray that the gospel message will find its way to the people who need it the most.

Pray for the church planters and village school teachers in our ministry areas. Finances have been a big issue as our partner organizations have had problems paying them since there have been very little tithing due to churches not meeting.

Pray for more donors and prayer warriors for CIM Canada. Our funds are quickly being depleted and some ministries are negative financially.

Pray for guidance and protection for our international worker, Janice Wong, as she remains in Ghana.

Pray for the Lord’s guidance as we seek His direction in how to outreach cross-culturally in a COVID and post-COVID world.
