Share In The Mission

Ghana 2018

After a busy weekend of preaching & sharing about mission in Montreal, Pastor Isaac and I had lunch together before heading to the airport to catch his flight home. I remember Pastor Isaac asking, “Karen, I would like to invite you to be on CIM’s board of directors.” To be honest, I didn’t quite understand what it meant to be a board director. I was a pastor in my 30s and didn’t possess a business acumen. After a brief explanation, I told him that I would need to pray about this decision. That was seven years ago and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be actively involved in global mission by closely serving with CIM Canada.

As a director of CIM, I learned a great deal about CIM’s programs and needs. Along with CIM’s staff, we share the vision and passion for CIM to succeed in sharing the Gospel cross-culturally and creating long-lasting Christian communities. The decisions that we make have significant impact on the lives of the pastors and communities which CIM serves. Therefore, we don’t take our work lightly. With prayer and discernment, we are called to practice good stewardship of CIM’s resources for Kingdom work.

We are all highly invested in CIM’s mission because all of our directors have personally joined a CIM mission trip. When we speak about an area of ministry, we fondly remember the faces and names of pastors, church members, young and old friends we have met from our visits. Our executive director, Reverend Isaac Quan, encourages us to join in the monthly prayer meeting where we receive prayer requests from the local pastors in Ghana, Togo and Ukraine, from our international worker who is abroad, and our staff across Canada. Across the ocean, we are connected to our brothers & sisters through these prayer meetings.

We are the bridge to donors and future mission team members as we share how the Gospel is proclaimed in far-reached lands, how donor’s resources are helping in the flourishing of people, and how together we are pursuing the vision of God. As a non-profit organization, we value the diversity of gifts and experiences each board member brings. Your contribution matters here! Currently we are looking for Christians with skills and gifts in the area of finance, law, marketing, and fundraising to strengthen Kingdom work at CIM.

If you ever receive an invitation to be a director for CIM, I encourage you to pray for discernment and jump into the journey. The beauty of CIM board is that we have representation across Canada, with various backgrounds and gifting. The friendships and learning experiences has made my life richer. After serving two terms of three years, I’m taking a Sabbath break. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to serve in global mission through CIM.

Pray With Us:

  • Please continue to pray for peace in Ukraine.  The invasion rages on and innocent lives are lost each day.  Pray for House of Mercy as they take care of refugees, physically and spiritually.  Pray that there will be donors for our Ukraine Crisis Fund as there are tremendous needs for the refugees.

  • Pray for the pastors and teachers that we support in Ghana and Togo.  Inflation is still greatly affecting their lives.  Pray that there will be donors for our benevolent fund so we can help with some of their physical needs. Pray for the formation of STM teams this summer and for 2024.

  • Pray for CIM USA as they are still looking for an Executive Director as well as a Director of Ministry.
