Insights from Rev. Doug Wong

My journey with CIM Canada has been of faith, growth, and deepening commitment. My times serving in this ministry has opened to the deeper things of God as I saw the gospel in full display.

I have had the privilege of travelling to Ghana twice now (2013 and 2017) and our church has sent at least five teams. We have witnessed firsthand the transformative work God is doing through this ministry. The people, churches, and communities we serve are resilient and faithful, yet they face significant spiritual, educational, and economic challenges.

(With Pastor James and wife in 2017)

Each visit strengthened my conviction that our partnership with local churches in Ghana makes a tangible difference. Through leadership training, discipleship programs, the efforts of local ministry workers and simply walking alongside believers in their faith journey, I have seen how the gospel brings hope and renewal to many lives.

(With STM team in 2017)

That’s why, when the opportunity arose to rejoin CIM Canada’s Board of Directors, I felt called to step in again—this time as treasurer and lead of the promotions department. This work challenges me and is far from finished. However, I’m thankful for the privilege to live out my faith but also to further the efforts of CIM Canada by having more people hear about and support this mission work in Ghana, Togo and Ukraine. Why? Simply because I believe in what God has done and continues to do here. Through this financial stewardship and increased awareness, my hope and prayer is for God to expand His Kingdom through CIM Canada, as we see more souls won and lives changed for Jesus.

But we can’t do this alone. CIM Canada relies on the generosity of partners like you to sustain and grow our ministry efforts. Would you consider making a donation to support this work? Your contributions go directly toward equipping churches, training leaders, supporting our ministries, workers and meeting practical needs in our various mission fields and beyond.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. I’ve seen the faces of the people your gift touched. Let’s continue this journey together, bringing the light of Christ to communities that need Him most.

Thank you for your partnership in the gospel!

Janice and her family will be in Canada for home assignment from June-September.  Her tentative plans are to rest with family in June while preparing for talks and sharing at a prayer group, travel to the Lower Mainland in BC for July to share at churches, travel to Ontario and Quebec for August, and to speak in churches in Alberta in September.  If your church or small group would like to invite Janice to speak, please email us at cimcanadaoffice@gmail.com and we can work together to set up a time.

Pray With Us:

  • Please continue to pray for peace in Ukraine. The invasion rages on and innocent lives are lost each day. Pray for House of Mercy as they take care of refugees, physically and spiritually.  Pray for peace talks and for a ceasefire. There has been much confusion regarding this process.

  • Pray for guidance and direction for our next steps for our Roma Ministry. Pray for the planning of sending an exploratory STM team to North Macedonia and Serbia in September.

  • Pray for the pastors and teachers that we support in Ghana. Pray for fruitful ministry and God’s provision for each pastor’s family needs. Pray for a peaceful resolution for the situation in Nkwanta.

  • Pray for Janice in Ghana as she continues with her ministry after her maternity leave.  Pray that she can find balance between her work with CIM, schooling and caring for Lucy. Pray for her residence permit renewal and indefinite residence application to be approved in a timely manner. Pray for the STM team from First Alliance Church that will travel to Ghana over Easter. Pray for the planning of her home assignment in Canada from June-September.

  • Pray for Pastor Isaac’s trip to Australia in April as he speaks at various churches in the Sydney area to update and promote CIM Ministries.

  • Pray for the finances of CIM Ministries. The economic situation in Canada may become very unstable with the uncertainty of a tariff trade war with the United States resulting possibly with less donors. Pray for new donors and a healthy general fund to run our ministries. In order to run our ministries effectively, we are currently seeking monthly donors. We encourage donors to give to our General Fund so we can distribute the funds where the needs are the greatest.  Click here to donate.

  • Pray for CIM USA as they are still looking for an Executive Director and Director of Ministry.
