Afehyia Pa

“Afehyia Pa!” Happy New Year to our dear prayer warriors!

There have been so many highlights to the start of this New Year already:

The Evangelical Church of Ghana (ECG) begins the New Year with a nation-wide 14 Days of Prayer & Fasting.

Centre: Pastor Simon and some of the elders of the Tinjase area.

Pastor Simon oversees 7 church communities in the Tinjase area. Almost all of the communities are currently in the midst of a church building project. The Jegrido congregation’s building (pictured left side) had some major damage due to last year’s severe weather conditions. They are currently meeting in a temporary location (pictured bottom right corner).

I was especially encouraged to learn of the dedication of the youth from Azua (pictured upper right corner). They commit their time and physical labor on Saturdays to help build their new chapel (they have outgrown their current chapel space). A group of female youth fetch water from a nearby dam for the mixing of cement, while the male youth work on the mixing of concrete and blocks with the help of a local mason.

The Mbowura ECG School has received training and support from the organization “Lively Minds.” 40 women from the two surrounding villages have been trained to facilitate early childhood learning activities. Every Monday to Thursday, a group of 10 women go to the school to facilitate small group activities in which the students rotate through during a class period.

Praise God for a successful time at the Ghana immigration headquarters in Accra. I was able to apply for a renewal for my residence permit in Ghana and hope to receive my passport and visa back sometime in March. Enoch and I (Janice) spent a few days enjoying the city…frequenting grocery stores, different cuisines that I miss from back home, stocking up on dry pet food…and even visiting the beach (Enoch’s first time!)

Thank you for praying with us,

Janice & Enoch Jabab
