Praying for Rain

Ghana has experienced an increase in record temperatures and decreased rainfall over the years. This is anecdotally proven true by the many farmers I know and work with (Enoch and his colleagues included) across several regions in Ghana. We have been praying for God to cause rainfall across the land!

Rainy season is typically from May to September in the Northern Region. The severe lack of rainfall this year has caused many farming communities to lose the majority of their crops. Many farmers are scrambling to repurpose their farmland into other cash crops before the dry season. The challenges in farming have contributed to economic challenges across the country.

It has been interesting to observe how the great need for rain has made many Christians and Muslims cry out to God. Every prayer meeting I have attended has dedicated time the corporate praying for rain. On August 8th, Muslims organized a city-wide prayer for rain in the city of Yendi.

All of this reminded me of a saying a previous pastor of mine used to preach, “Desperation leads to dependence. Dependence on God leads to deliverance.” My prayer for the Ghanaians who are affected by the climate change is that their desperation will move them towards a dependence on God. May God’s mercy be upon them and may He reveal His power and might in these times of uncertainties. I pray that His deliverance will move hearts closer to knowing God in a deeper, intimate way.

After over a month without rainfall, God answered the prayers of many this past week. Tamale, along with several other areas in the Northern Region, received the long hoped for downpour! From what I have heard, many church services were filled with testimonies of thanksgiving to God for answered prayers this past Sunday, including our church in Nyankpala. Together, we praised God for the rain and asked Him to continue to provide for farmers and their families across the country.

Back to School

September is around the corner, and our students and Mission Schools are getting ready to go back to school! Please keep them in your prayers for a successful school year in growing academically and spiritually. I will also be going back to school in September as well! I have been admitted to Prairie College’s online program for a diploma in Bible & Theology. Please pray for our family as we balance scheduling between our various work, family and ministry responsibilities. Pray for wisdom in learning God’s word.

CIM’s Executive Director Rev. Isaac Quan will be visiting Ghana from September 15th-30th, in which we will accompany him in making visits to nine church pastor’s communities and three mission schools. Pray for traveling mercies and a fruitful time together.

Lastly, I will be applying for an Indefinite Residence Permit while I’m in Accra in September. Please pray for God’s favor upon the application process. Thank you for all your prayer support!
